Poem To Pregnant Sister
Wrinkles, Paco Roca
Wrinkle tells the story of Emilio, a retired banker who is joined by his family in a nursing home since can not take care of him. They will meet the rest of his teammates, most of whom can not fend for themselves, some suffer from Alzheimer and other dementia. Miguel, his roommate, not among the unfortunate and will be responsible also for guiding him. In the end, guide to see who makes who.
Perhaps the great cruelty of this comic is that it gives a slap in the face with something that is there every day and we refuse to see, not only because it is happening, but the possibility that we happen to ourselves. No talk of great adventures in magical lands, mysterious caped characters or types, we speak of the passage of time and something that some may have to face us. However, it also teaches us that goodness and friends can make everywhere, that our future depends only on ourselves and that we are responsible for the ties that bind us to others, with consequences that may arise from such relationships.
Wrinkles narrates and mind, but mostly transports you to a few stories that happen not only in the comics you have in hand but also, perhaps, a few streets or blocks of your house . Paco Roca can make you smile or mourn with only one bullet difference in the end, prove that there is always hope, though not always come the way we had imagined.
Sooner or later I'll finish buying this comic and I'm looking forward day, proudly, to put it on the shelf so it's always by my side .
